An Introduction to Overflow Wellness

Hello readers,
I guess I should start with an introduction - my names Jordan Kelly the founder of 'Overflow Wellness'. I'm a Christian, born in Wales but Cape Town is home in my heart. I'm an avid surfer, runner and of course yogi with over 10 years practice. I have a passion for writing and one day hope to be an author, but that's another story but if you'd like a taste of my writing I have another blog you can check out here:
An integral part of my life is health and wellbeing - I believe God gave us the world to steward and we have everything we need for an abundant life - starting with relationship with Him, but also prioritising a slightly different way of living that we experience in the UK. Nature should be our best friend, good home grown food straight from the land, no artifical nastiness, ocean dips, barefoot walking, sunlight over artificial lighting.
So the long and short of it is I'm a hippy. Sadly, in the UK my hippy vibes are a little more toned down, the cold forces me to wear shoes and my surfing everyday dream life has taken a step back (for now). I'm currently a teacher, so although my day to day life revolves around telling unruly teenagers to be chill that's not really what sets my heart alive. Elements of it I love, hense the whole loving teaching yoga but I believe in leading people to have a healthy, holy, happy life the way God intended.
Overflow Wellness was always a seed planted in my mind; I've grown up always wanting to help others, I have a passion for health and fitness but more living for longevity as well as how we interact with our environment. The older I got the more I grew to realise we need we be healthy spiritually, mentally and physically and so much of that comes from living a different way to what society promotes.
There's been a huge self-love, health and wellness blow up on the internet, but I have found that hard to relate to, as a Christian the message doesn't align with what I believe because it's all about 'me, me, me' when Jesus showed us the example to serve. Looking after yourself of course, benefits you but ultimately it gives us capacity to serve better. To not be burnt out and empty, but filled to the brim and ready to pour out to others.
Looking at the Bible God talks to us about the best way to live - rest, good food, treating your body as a temple.
"Pouring out of your own cup to support others will leave you burnout and empty pretty quickly, but to be so filled up we pour out of the overflow of all that God gives us, it means we can help, support and show His love so much more."

Overflow Wellness is so much more than yoga classes, although we all have to start somewhere and I really do love sharing my routines with others. Allowing them to have that time on the mat, moving their body, regulating the breathing, meditating on the present and releasing tension we often don't even know we are holding on to.
But the vision doesn't stop there - Overflow Wellness is a community of people that want to learn to realign their lives in the way God desired, it's the desire to be happy, healthy and holy. It's enriching our lives with ocean dips, the day of rest we prioritise, the food we eat, it's the daily devotional getting to know God more, lifting weights and community runs and connecting with nature. It's giving back to those that need it most in our lives and the world.
So I pray you partner on this jounrey with me - whether that's joining a yoga class, being inspired to try a new recipe, joining my coaching program, getting to know God a little deeper or attending a [tropical] retreat (because we all need time in the sun living getting our fill as a community). Sending love homies,
and stay tuned for some exciting adventures.
Love,
Jords x
